Having arrived the previous evening this was my first proper look around Puno. It isn't as big as Cusco and doesn't share Cusco's history as an Incan capital. The maOverall Puno makes me think of a Spannish seaside town, though in this case the water is a lake rather than the sea.
Plaza de Armas
I went to the Plaza de Armas which is pleasant although more modest than those in the largest cities,..
Puno Cathedral
... and the adjacent Cathedral
Mirador el Condor
I also ascended many steps (about 650 I think) to the Mirador el Condor for a magnificent view looking out over the the city and the lake.
Street Markets
The street markets are lively and sell a wide variety of goods. Fruit, vegetables and cheeses in particular are available from many stalls.
