Journey to Peru
My route was from Manchester airport to Madrid then Madrid to Lima and finally Lima to Cusco, all through Iberia airline.
The Manchester to Madrid flight ran late throughout, from check-in desk opening late to boarding, take off and landing being overdue.
At Lima I had to go through passport control. This was very crowded but the process went smoothly enough.
However it was now that things started to go wrong. I received an email telling me that my flight on to Cusco had been canceled. The queues to resolve this were much shorter but also much much slower.
Eventually I managed to get added to a later flight and made my way to departure. Lima Airport is pretty standard but at least reasonably colourful. The giant frog represents the spirit of the Amazon or something.
Unfortunately I had another problem to resolve, I had booked a taxi through booking.com to collect me when my original flight arrived - they had the original flight number and were supposed to monitor it so should know the flight was cancelled but not when I would now be arriving. Booking.com had no interface for detailing this kind of change but had given me the taxi driver's number which I called and then at his request confirmed through a WhatsApp message. The message got two ticks so was received but does not appear to have been read, and there was nobody to collect me from my new flight.
I arranged a new taxi at the airport which got me to my hotel after over 28 hours since leaving Mum's house. But now I'm here and Cusco looks stunning.
