Cusco museums and trek briefing
Cusco museums and trek briefing
As it was my last day before starting the Inca Trail I decided to have an easier day and focus on visiting a couple of museums.
Religious Procession
I noticed a religious procession that ended at the Basilica Menor de la Merced - an elaborate 16th century Catholic church by the Plazoleta Espinar.
Museo Historico Regional
The Museo Historico Regional was okay and had some interesting items but felt a bit thrown together.
Museo de Arte Precolombino
The Museo de Arte Precolombino was better - it had an audio tour available which helped immensely and felt better organised thematically.
Inca Trail Briefing
In the evening I had a briefing at the Alpaca Expedition offices for the following days' trek. Unlike my Nepal trip where I had a guide to myself, this time I'm part of a group - fifteen other hikers were at the meeting plus one more who couldn't attend, making 16 of us in all. There would be two guides accompanying us.
We were given duffel bags to pack our weight allowance worth of items - maximum 3.5 kg - into for the porters to carry on the trek.
